My 5th gen IPod's screen has a black smudge on the inside. It was dropped recently and now it doesn't power on?
So...the screen has a black dot on the display screen. My brother dropped it and decided to buy a new one and gave me this one 
. I have tried powering it up using a PC link cable and nothing. Will it be necessary for me to replace the display screen or can it be where I can see everything except for that small black area?
I have opened up the unit (using approved tools like a flathead screwdriver and pliers) and the hard drive seemed okay, the battery unit seemed fine. I just think it's not working because of the display screen.
I would really appreciate any help you could throw my way.
Btw I have reset the Ipod and still nothing. It's not under warranty anyways.
When you have a dark spot on a LCD screen, that means that the screen is cracked and bleeding and needs to be replaced. The iPod probably still works-can you hear the hard drive spinning? Since you have already taken it apart, (no harm done there) buy a replacement LCD and install it. Look on eBay.
